ON SATURDAY, JUNE 26 : THE RETURN OF DELPHIS

Since 1996, this opération contributes to the inventory of whales and dolphins living in the Mediterranean. More than 40 Frejus's boats and Saint-Raphael will participate on july 18.

" This day, become an ambassador of the Mediterranean Sea ": it is that proposes every year since 1996 operation " Delphis " to all the sailors of the pond parade - liguro-provençal. In the day J, on July 18 for this fourth edition, the participating boats have in load census in a precise perimeter of all the observed cetaceans. They were 39 boats at first last year and " this year we wait same number of sailboats and motorboats and can be more or more than 250 persons. " It will establish the most important flotilla of the Occidental Mediterranean Sea! On Saturday evening, the already registered participants were invited to a meeting information. Because to be able to list the maritime mammals, still need to be capable of recognizing them!

It was the object of the visit of the president of RIMMO Michaël RIDDELL and several members of the team. The sailors listened to a statement, assisted a video projection and saw putting back a plaque presenting the various sorts of dolphins, globicéphales, killer whales, whales and sperm whales. Meeting is so fixed on July 18 with a departure foreseen for sailboats at 8 o'clock, and the second at 10 o'clock for motorboats. Once their reached zone, the participants should have to, between 12 o'clock and 13. 30, follow a route in a straight line between the four corners of their square and note the number and the sorts of all the visible cetaceans. They will also be able to photograph them to confirm their observation: a film will will be supplied them and the best photo will be rewarded by a price. But it is not everything: they should also make takings of water and plankton which will be analyzed in laboratory.
