Grampus griseus

It is a very original dolphin by its aspect and coloring. It measures 3 in 4 metres for 250 in 400 kg. Contrary to most part of the other dolphins, it does not possess a rostrum. The forehead is spherical as that of the globicéphale. Dauphin de risso.jpg (4684 octets)

dauriss2.jpg (12091 octets) During the social interactions which enamel their life, the dolphins of risso impose themselves bites without gravity which leave numerous scars covering bit by bit their body, in the point that the oldest individuals seem practically white. These scars are very useful for the scientists to estimate their age. They feed almost exclusively on cephalopods. They can live 40 years and give birth to a small every 2 or 3 years.
